HUNDREDS OF LEAFLETS DOORDROPPED IN MEMORY OF JILL

Last Saturday was the 25th anniversary of the death of Jill Phipps, who was killed on February 1, 1995 while protesting against the live export of calves for the veal industry from Coventry Airport.
And Wyre Forest Vegans were proud to honour Jill on Saturday, when eight of our volunteers doordropped 600 of Animal Aid’s “This Little Calf” leaflet in the Comberton and Offmore Farm areas of Kidderminster in her memory.
We’ve had a gap in our news coverage, but to catch up, you can take a look at our Facebook page here, which is public, so you’ll be able to see it, even if you’re not on Facebook.

BEST EVER BEWDLEY GREENER LIVING FAIR
More than 150 visitors to our stalls
About 500 people came along to Bewdley Greener Living Fair on 6 April, by far its biggest ever attendance, to a large part due to the doordropping by WFV members of thousands of leaflets promoting the event.
More than 150 people visited our Wyre Forest Vegans and Ecotricity stalls, to try vegan cheese and plantmilk samples, and take away vegan information booklets and leaflets about vegan green energy.
Thanks so much to Adam, Caroline, Janet, Judy, Nadia, Ronnie, Sammy, Susan and Theresa for their help in various ways at the Fair.
And it was great to have Lindsey and Charlotte opposite us with their As One Vegan Lifestyle stall.

Popular and enjoyable cookery demos
Four Veganuary practical vegan cookery demonstrations organised by Wyre Forest Vegans took place on every Sunday in January at Greens Vegan Café in Stourport.
All of them were fully-booked and very helpful and enjoyable for those taking part.
The group now plans to stage vegan cookery demos at least once a month in various parts of the Wyre Forest area.

Another great Kidderminster collection for Animals Asia

Many thanks to Wyre Forest Vegans members Sammy, Jacqui and Ronnie who helped Animals Asia make Saturday’s collection in Kidderminster town centre so successful.

Together with Animals Asia volunteers Chris, Steve and Vivienne, they raised £392.20, an amazing £137 more than the equivalent collection last year.

Most people who donated were given leaflets advertising our forthcoming Quiz Night fundraiser for Animals Asia, which also promote WFV and veganism.

Celebration as our little vegan shop moves on

It was free tea and cakes for all customers at As One Vegan Lifestyle in Lombard Street, Stourport, on Monday (25 June), as the shop closed its doors to prepare to move to bigger premises on the High Street, which it will share with Wyre Forest’s first ever vegan café, to be run by Greens Vegan Catering.
Since As One opened in February last year, Lindsey Clode and her little shop (selling vegan food items and other ethical products) have made a huge contribution to the spread of veganism in Wyre Forest, and this will no doubt continue and increase after the move.

Best ever Bewdley collection for Animals Asia

Many thanks to Wyre Forest Vegans members Julie, Louise and Ronnie who helped Animals Asia make their collection in Bewdley on 23 June the best ever they’ve held in the town.

Together with Animals Asia volunteers Chris, Steve and Vivienne, they collected £305.22, £37 more than last year’s previous best.

Most people who donated were given leaflets advertising our forthcoming Quiz Night fundraiser for Animals Asia, which also promote WFV and veganism.

Animals Asia collection records have now been broken this year in all three Wyre Forest towns (Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley) thanks to the WFV members who lent a hand.
